The Berdani violin tailpiece in the English Model – Wide version combines the clear design language of the traditional English model with an expanded construction. The increased width gives the tailpiece a calm visual presence while supporting balanced vibration transfer throughout the instrument.
Each tailpiece is individually handcrafted by master luthier Daniel Hiller and carefully adjusted in weight, balance, and function. The result is a harmoniously integrated component that promotes stability, control, and a natural playing response.
Wide Construction and Tonal Balance
The wide version of the English model is characterized by balanced proportions and a stable geometric design. The adapted mass distribution influences the vibration behavior of the instrument and positions this model tonally between the English and French tailpiece designs.
While the traditional English model tends to support a brighter, overtone-rich response and the French model is known for a round and balanced character, the wide English version combines both qualities: clear projection together with a calm and evenly balanced tonal development.
This makes the model particularly suitable for instruments seeking a balance between brilliance and warmth.

The tailpiece is fitted with an adjustable nylon tailgut featuring a braided textile cord, allowing precise individual adjustment to different instruments.
