Tailpiece double bass
Our tailpiece model was developed in cooperation with Prof.Frithjof-Martin Grabner. The main focus of the tailpiece was to let all strings run parallel to the bridge with even pressure from the tailpiece. The result is a harmonious and balanced sound. We can make the slot widths individually for your instrument on request. All Berdani products are manufactured entirely in Germany.
Our idea for an optimal sound:
- the weighting of the string holder is chosen so that the vibrations of the instrument are supported and not hindered.
- he tailpiece is so hollow that it does not favour a wolf.
- the angles of the strings from the bridge to the tailpiece do not taper, but run straight down and parallel to each other. The result is a harmonious and balanced sound.
- the width of the slit is so wide that the thickest string fits into the slit without re-cutting, so that the string vibrates more freely.
- the tailpiece is supplied with a braided cord.
- the fret of the tailpiece is rounded on one side to minimize the friction of the string.

Dark Boxwood and Boxwood
We have developed a process to color the box tree in a natural way.
Our box tree is completely stained without stains or alkalis such as saltpeter or ammonia.
Only pure linseed oil and Canauba wax are used for the surface treatment.
The violin maker only has to oil the pegs, chinrests and tailpieces after the treatment, no staining or caustic solutions are necessary. We offer the boxwood in 2 colours.
Boxwood light looks like conventionally coloured boxwood.
Dark Boxwood can be used as a rosewood substitute.
Ebony
The ebony has been carefully stored for years and is sorted by weight and sound. It is finely sanded with linseed oil and polished with Canauba wax.
