Guarneri Violin Chinrest – side cup with a central mounting

The BERDANI Guarneri violin chinrest combines a side-positioned chin support with a central mounting over the tailpiece. Master violin maker Daniel Hiller crafts each chinrest by hand. Three heights and five materials let you choose a version to suit your playing position and the fittings of your violin.

Choose from three chinrest heights

The Guarneri model is available in 19 mm, 23 mm and 26 mm heights. The cup measures 125 mm in length and 65 mm in width. The right height depends on your anatomy, shoulder rest and preferred posture. Its side-positioned cup offers a different chin position from a chinrest with a central support.

Boxwood, Dark Boxwood, Ebony, Dark Paper and English Boxwood

Choose the material to complement the other fittings on your violin. Boxwood and Dark Boxwood have warm brown tones; English Boxwood has a characteristic orange-brown colour. Ebony has a dark surface with natural wood grain. Dark Paper is a dense paper-fibre and phenolic-resin composite with an even black surface. Every wooden piece has its own individual grain.

Finish and fitting

The surface is finely sanded, treated with pure linseed oil and polished. Cork pads protect the varnish when the chinrest is correctly fitted. Sufficient clearance must remain between the chinrest and the tailpiece so that the two parts do not touch. A violin maker can mount the chinrest securely and check its fit on your instrument.
