BERDANI Center Model Violin Chinrest – a central chin support

The BERDANI Center Model is a centrally mounted violin chinrest with the chin support positioned over the tailpiece. Handcrafted by master violin maker Daniel Hiller, it comes in two heights and five materials to suit your preferred playing position and the fittings of your instrument.

Choose a 23 mm or 26 mm chinrest height

This model is designed for violinists who prefer to place their chin centrally above the tailpiece. The shaped cup has a raised centre and recessed areas on either side. Choose the standard 23 mm height or the taller 26 mm version. The right height depends on your anatomy, shoulder rest and individual playing posture.

Five materials

Choose Boxwood, Dark Boxwood, Ebony, English Boxwood or Dark Paper. The wood options have distinct colours and grain patterns. Dark Paper is a dense paper-and-resin composite with an even, dark surface. The product photographs show each material from several angles and mounted on a violin. Each wooden piece has its own individual grain.

Finish and fitting

The wooden surfaces are finely sanded and polished with pure linseed oil. Cork pads protect the varnish at the contact points when the chinrest is fitted correctly. The chinrest must sit securely and have sufficient clearance from the tailpiece so that the two parts do not touch. A violin maker can fit and adjust it to your instrument.
