Chinrest Viola
In exchange with musicians, we have perfected the chinrest models to such an extent that they fit comfortably in the neck and chin area and do not have a disturbing effect.
Our idea for a good fit:
- all chinrest models are equipped with a sleeve system. Due to the metal sleeve, the chinrest remains firmly in its position when tightened and does not move.
- the instrument lies securely and firmly on the body. The musician can concentrate more on himself and his instrument and does not tire so quickly.
- the chinrest feet are cut out extra small and covered with 2mm cork, so the top and the body can swing more freely.
- we offer the chinrest screws in different lengths made of titanium and nickel-plated.
- Titanium has an anti-allergic effect

An alternative for ebony
Our idea:
We wanted to find a material that was equal to ebony in appearance, weight and sound, but could be produced sustainably. We succeeded in doing that. The result is Berdani's Dark Paper, a composite of recycled paper and resin.
Production:
To produce the high-quality dark paper, recycled paper is soaked with a warm resin, layered by hand and pressed under high pressure.
Appearance:
The finished product looks like the finest ebony. It has a continuous black colour and the same hardness and density as ebony. Berdani's Dark Paper is also heat and dirt repellent and resistant to moisture and sweat. Since the material is made of purely natural components, it is 100% biodegradable. Berdani`s Dark Paper is also non-toxic and does not shrink or swell.
Processing / Use:
The composite can be processed immediately and without long storage times. Violin makers do not need special tools for this. The material can be processed with conventional violin making tools; it can be planed, filed and sanded.
The chinrest is fitted with metal sleeves which hold the chinrest in position when it is clamped.
Dark Boxwood/ Boxwood
We have developed a process to color the box tree in a natural way.
Our box tree is completely stained without stains or alkalis such as saltpeter or ammonia.
Only pure linseed oil and Canauba wax are used for the surface treatment.
The violin maker only has to oil the pegs, chinrests and tailpieces after the treatment, no staining or caustic solutions are necessary. We offer the boxwood in 2 colours.
Boxwood looks like conventionally coloured boxwood.
Dark Boxwood can be used as a rosewood substitute.
Ebony
The ebony has been carefully stored for years and is sorted by weight and sound. It is finely sanded with linseed oil and polished with Canauba wax
